”Some people argue that sex work in itself is a human rights violation, irrespective of the conditions and of what sex workers themselves say. However, in line with the views of sex workers themselves, and the human rights principles stated before, this tool takes the stand that (adult consensual) sex work, in itself, is not a violation of human rights, but conditions of deceit, coercion or abuse can make it a human rights violation. It thus makes a clear distinction between sex work, defined as the rendering of sexual services in exchange for money, and trafficking, which is defined by the presence of coercion, deception, debt bondage, abuse of authority, or any other form of abuse related to conditions of recruitment and/or conditions of work.”
och
”Of special importance to the situation of irregular migrants and other vulnerable or marginalised groups is respect for the principle of non-discrimination. This implies that anti-trafficking measures should not be used to directly or indirectly discriminate against women, migrants, sex workers or other groups. It also means that protection for trafficked persons should be applied without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, immigration status, and/or the fact that an individual may have been trafficked in the past or worked in the sex industry”
